On the occasion of Arte Fiera and ART CITY Bologna 2024, from February 1st to 4th, admission to the exhibiton Ilario Rossi. Single Movement is free for all Vip Card Arte Fiera holders, and a reduced ticket price of € 5,00 is available for all Arte Fiera ticket holders.

Additionally, on Saturday, February 3rd, there will be extended opening hours until 11:00 PM for ART CITY White Night, with free admission from 7:00 PM to 11:00 PM.

Continuing the commitment to promote and showcase Bolognese artists, Genus Bononiae and Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio in Bologna present a retrospective of Ilario Rossi.

The exhibition features around seventy works, mostly from the Rossi family collection, spanning the artist's entire career from the 1929 Self-Portrait to a Still Life with Flowers from 1994, the year of his passing. Active for over sixty years in post-Morandi Bologna, Ilario Rossi stands as an undisputed protagonist.

Rossi paints landscapes, still lifes, as well as portraits and figures, all themes interpreted through his deeply personal and intimate style. In landscape painting, Ilario Rossi best expresses his poetic vision; his still lifes, on the other hand, serve as genuine memento mori, while the human figure—faceless, unrecognizable, and unidentifiable—is portrayed as conceived and generated by nature, much like trees, the sky, stars, and animals.

This exhibition aims to explore precisely this aspect of the artist's production, identifying clear signs that distinguish him as a painter of existence, a painter of life and death.
