From Felice Giani to Luigi Serra
l'Ottocento
in the Collections of the Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio in Bologna
Palazzo Fava
Via Manzoni 2, Bologna
March 21st, 2024 / July 28th, 2024
The Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio in Bologna, in collaboration with Genus Bononiae, presents for the first time to the public an exhibition featuring the main works of 19th-century Bolognese art from its own collections of art and history. At Palazzo Fava, visitors will have the opportunity to admire works by Felice Giani, Pelagio Palagi, Clemente Alberi, Pietro Fancelli, Antonio Basoli, Giacomo De Maria, Luigi Busi, Alessandro Guardassoni, Giovanni Masotti, and Luigi Serra, among others.
Approximately thirty artists are represented by over a hundred works, including paintings, drawings, watercolors, and sculptures, culminating with the Maiolica ceramics from the Minghetti workshop once owned by the Duke of Montpensier. The exhibition is part of the project Painting in Bologna in the long 19th century | 1796-1915 promoted by the Settore Musei Civici Bologna | Museo Civico del Risorgimento, involving fourteen exhibition venues in the city and outlining a journey through Bolognese painting from the Napoleonic Era to the beginning of the Great War.
