The Griffoni Polyptych goes to the Basilica of San Petronio

Palazzo Pepoli , from 04/10/2021

October 4th is the Day of Saint Petronius, bishop of Bologna in the 5th Century and Patron Saint of the city. To celebrate the Saint, starting from October 4th the precious replica of the Griffoni Polyptych, created by Factum Foundation and already shown at Palazzo Fava during the exhibition “The rediscovery of a masterpiece”, will be hosted by the Basilica of San Petronio.

The perfect reproduction of the Polyptych in 1:1 scale allows us to see the facsimiles of the 16 known tables assembled today, in the arrangement that in all probability corresponds to the original one.

Throughout the month of October, it will therefore be possible to admire the Polyptych in the place for which it was conceived, in the Chapel dedicated to San Vincenzo Ferrer, the sixth on the left side of the nave.

Starting from November 2nd onwards, the replica will return to Palazzo Pepoli. Museum of the History of Bologna, in the Sala del Sacro, which already hosts the testimonies of the ancient city cult of the Blessed Virgin of San Luca.

The replica of the Griffoni Polyptych is visible during the opening hours of San Petronio: every day, from 9 am to 12.30 pm and from 3 pm to 5.30 pm.
