The Griffoni Polyptych at Palazzo Pepoli

Palazzo Pepoli , from 11/05/2021

Since May 2021, Palazzo Pepoli has been permanently hosting the precious replica of the Griffoni Polyptych created by Factum Foundation and already shown at Palazzo Fava during the exhibition “The rediscovery of a masterpiece”.

Located in Palazzo Pepoli in the Sala del Sacro, which already houses artworks of the ancient city cult of the Blessed Virgin of San Luca, the perfect 1:1 scale reproduction of the Polyptych now allows everyone to see the copies of the 16 known panels, in the arrangement that most likely reflects the original composition. The studies launched for the exhibition and continued with the October 2020 International Conference – in which distinguished art historians from several countries took part – have reopened the debate and launched new discoveries. The results of these new studies have been published in the volume Il Polittico Griffoni. Un dono per la città, curated by Mauro Natale (Minerva Editore, 2021), available at the Museum bookshop.

The Sala del Sacro is accessible during museum opening hours: from Tuesday to Sunday, from 10 am to 7 pm.
