Festa della Musica in San Colombano

On 24th and 25th of June in San Colombano. Tagliavini Collection there will be the third edition of Festa della Musica, whose protagonists are Scotland and Ireland. These two days are entirely dedicated to Scottish and Irish music, dance and culture, and there will be conferences, meetings and concerts.
A Journey into the traditional music of these countries, and the inspiration of the compositors of the 17th century. More than 35 musicians from all around the world will be involved in the execution of traditional songs inspired by Scottish and Irish heritage. The audience will be involved in a fascinating journey from the Dublin Virginal Book to the characteristics Scottish songs of Beethoven, Mendelssohn, Chopin e Debussy, from the Gaelic music for Harp of the 16th century to the Scottish Tunes of Francesco Barsanti, Domenico Corri, and James Oswald. The execution of the folkloristic repertoire will involve the use of priceless musical instruments and the Magisterial Art of Musicians, offering to the audience of Bologna an unforgettable experience. Some conferences will give the chance to appreciate in a more complete way these performances, also enriched by ballet exhibitions.

There will be also the traditional Gaelic and Scottish chants, while specialized musicians will offer the execution of a variety of 18th century songs. The invaluable cymbals, organs and pianos of the Tagliavini Collection are just some of the many historical and originals instruments involved in the realization of more than 15 concerts during these two days. The protagonists will be two Scottish instruments kept in San Colombano : the piano Wood, Small & Company (Edinburgh, c. 1825) and the Thomas Machell & Sons’s Dulcitone (Glasgow, c. 1910).
