Waiting for “Meta-Morphosis” exhibition that will be hosted at Palazzo Fava. Palazzo delle Esposizioni from March 23 to June 24, Genus Bononiae presents an exclusive preview at the Library of Art and History of San Giorgio in Poggiale: the iconic painting by Zhang Dali AK-47.

Zhang Dali (Harbin, 1963) is one of the best known Chinese contemporary artists. He engages with the questions posed by historical, social, and economical transformations in China in the last thirty years, and has utilized diverse techniques in his artistic expression: graffiti, painting, print, sculpture, photography, installations and performance art. AK-47 is the name of an automatic rifle designed by Michail Kalashnikov, the abbreviation of Avtomat Kalashnikova. and it was produced for the first time in the Soviet Union in 1947. All over the world, the name AK-47 has become a symbol of wars, insurrections and gang criminality. Zhang Dali started to use this tag during the nineties in his graffiti as a synonym of the violence permeating the fast urbanization process.
